Huddersfield Carnival
10 July 2027.
A full day of mas bands, sound systems, food and dance across Huddersfield town centre and Greenhead Park — the second-largest African-Caribbean Carnival in West Yorkshire. Free to attend, always the second weekend in July.
What is Carnival?
A living Caribbean tradition on Huddersfield's streets.
Caribbean Carnival is a centuries-old tradition rooted in the emancipation of enslaved people across the Caribbean islands — a celebration of freedom through music, costume, food and dance. Every year, Huddersfield brings that tradition home, drawing thousands to the streets and Greenhead Park for a day of colour, sound and joy.
Huddersfield Carnival is one of the oldest and largest Caribbean carnivals in the North of England. Alongside major carnivals in Leeds, Preston, Nottingham, Manchester, Derby and Leicester, we're part of a national calendar of Caribbean cultural celebration — with our own distinct character rooted in this town.
